Happy Monday 👋
.
What is something you are going to do this week to lead you to achieving more?
.
Yesterday Lindsay and I were able to watch this documentary called Free Solo. Absolutely such a powerful movie. Literally mind blowing what people are able to push themselves to achieve.
.
This documentary is all about following Alex Honnold around as he sets out to free climb El Capitan. It’s 3,000 feet of shear granite. What is a free climb? It means he climbed it without any ropes or anchors. Just his skill and a chalk bag, that’s it. He falls there is no return.
.
He was and is the only person to free climb this rock face, and he did it in spectacular form as well. Most people climb this spread out over 3-5 days. He did it in 3 hours and 56 minutes!
.
What was even more intriguing was his mindset. He literally had all the signs coming at him as to why he shouldn’t attempt something like this. From other professional climbers asking him not to do it, to getting injured twice in training leading up to the climb, and actually backing out of it on his first attempt.
.
But, he had a goal and like he stated nothing great happens when you are happy and comfortable. This goes back to what I talk about a lot when going for your goals. No one will understand your vision like you do. Their limiting mindsets will always try to talk you out of it, and say how crazy it is. Why? Because they have given up themselves or never even tried.
.
Even someone like himself being surrounded by other professional climber you would think they would be in favor of what he is looking to achieve. But, they had a limiting mindset as to what they thought was possible and disguising it as concern trying to talk him out of doing it.
.
If that ended up being his last climb, he knew he would rather go knowing he went for everything he wanted to then to live a comfortable sheltered life with regret.
.
I thought that was so powerful! Unfortunately I believe to many people go for the comfort life. When we are under pressure that is when we create, it’s when we grow, and it’s when we fully step into our full potential.
.
Trying to remove pressure from your life is essentially saying you never want to grow as a person. To that, I would say is a slap in the face as to why you are here to begin with.
.
When things get tough and challenging for you, STOP giving in, and giving UP! We have amazing bodies and minds for a reason. Use them to create a new path to push forward.
.
Learn to step into difficulty rather then move away. Society has trained people to think that difficulty is bad, and our lives SHOULD be easy and fun. That is a false reality, and trying to live up to that will only hurt you. Instead understand there are seasons of life some more difficult then others, but if you really want to live your best life you will learn to love the difficult times just as much if not more then the easy times.
.
So, what are you going to do this week to embrace a challenge instead of trying to make things “easy?”
